WASHINGTON, DC (MASNET) Mar. 10, 2010 – MAS Freedom as part of its involvement in the US 2010 Census Faith Based Outreach efforts is encouraging every Muslims to participate and respond to the 2010 Census Faith-Based Summit. Recently as a result of the 2010 Census Faith Based Summit MAS Freedom in conjunction with other faith base groups was asked to assist in ensuring a complete and accurate count in the 2010 Census.

“We are actively encouraging every Muslim along with their fellow Americans to provide the critically needed information for an accurate count. Many outreach and social services projects that benefit religious communities are funded by federal dollar, which are allocated based on census data”, stated Mahdi Bray MAS Freedom Executive Director.

Muslim participation in the 2010 Census is also critical in determining the level of political representation that our communities have in Congress. An accurate census count means more jobs and resources for our community, and especially resources that are important for social welfare. “A great number of decisions related to health care, education, physical infrastructure, and overall domestic policies are based on both population numbers and the particular characteristics that define communities reflected in U.S. census data.”

MAS Freedom wants to make sure that Muslims, as a community, do their civic duty and make sure that the census count is an accurate one. We call upon Mosques, Muslim religious leaders, organizations and other Muslim institutions to promote and encourage all Muslims to fully participate in the 2010 Census.
