Health Care, Racism, Spit and Bricks

Filed under: From the Desk of Imam Mahdi Bray — Imam Mahdi Bray @ 3:20 pm
Who would have thought that legislation to ensure that millions of Americans received Health Care would lead to death threats, African American members of Congress being spat on and called “niggers” and bricks being thrown through the doors and windows of congressional district offices. But as the great boxing promoter Don King would say, “Only in America.” Hopefully students will get a better deal on their parents’ health insurance and better student loans will rise above this madness. Check out the piece below. – Imam Bray
Quote of the Day – “Deliberate injustice ultimately is more fatal to the one who imposes it than the one on whom it is imposed.”

The Obama’s Health Care Legislation Finally Done – Student Loan Revamping a Plus

Yesterday, the US congress finalized the legislative ‘fixes’ on the new Obama Health Care Reform. Amidst all the name calling, partisan acrimony, and brick throwing the House representatives put the final “fixes” to the Obama Health Care Reform Law by a vote of 220 to 207. The Senate approves the “fixes” by a vote of 54 to 43.

“In reality what president Obama was able to politically achieve was insurance reform rather than real health care reform. However, it is still a momentous historical event in our nation regarding health care. I feel that it lies a foundation on which universal health care advocates can bill and ultimately provide Health Care relief to all Americans”, stated Mahdi Bray, executive Director of MAS Freedom. MAS Freedom, who has long advocated the student loan restructuring and affordable higher education, applauds the administrations achievement in the revamping of student loans with in the health care “fixes”.
