MAS Freedom Requests Long Island Prosecutor to Investigate Attack on Turkish-American as Hate Crime

The Muslim American Society Freedom is requesting that the Nassau County prosecutor investigate the vicious attack upon a Turkish-American and his co-worker as a possible hate crime. Ironically, a flagpole with an American flag was used to assault the two men.

The attack on Erdaogan Yavuz and his coworker by a gang of Long Island youth, including an adult, should be investigated as a hate crime”, stated Ibrahim Ramey, MAS Freedom Civil and Human Rights Director. “Clearly, expressions of ethnic hatred made during an assault indicate that such an incident should be investigated as a hate crime”. Ramey further stated that MAS Freedom is issuing a formal request to the Nassau County Prosecutor’s Office that they pursue a full investigation to determine whether this attack should be considered a hate crime.
